When will the 2002 comedy “Super Troopers” get a sequel? Apparently, “the time is meow.”

Broken Lizard, the group behind the original film, raised more than $2 million on fundraising website Indiegogo in just 24 hours.

“If we could cry, we’d be crying,” the filmmakers wrote on the campaign page. “Thank you so much. Sincerely.”

The original comedy follows a group of state troopers in a small Vermont town. The filmmaking team created the fundraising page in hopes of getting a head start on the film.

“While the studio has given us permission to make the sequel, and agreed to distribute it (at least in the USA and Canada), we need to fund the movie ourselves,” the company wrote on the Indiegogo page, which was created on Tuesday. “The more we raise, the more amazing stuff we can put in the movie. More action, more cameos, more shenanigans, and fine, more Farva.”

Donators were promised perks -- everything from script access to a private stand-up show -- in exchange for helping the crew make the “barebones version” of the film.

The group said they hope to start filming this summer. They aim for a release date in early 2016.
