Zooey Deschanel’s cool, blue J Mendel gown inspired her makeup artist Jorjee Douglass to give the actress what she describes as a “1960s Vogue magazine, high-fashion makeup look.”

This meant black eyeliner swept out past the end of the top and bottom of the eye as well as dewy, milky skin.

To achieve this, Douglass used Cargo Cosmetics products starting with Jetlag Concealer to brighten the eye and Cargo Water Resistant Bronzer on the outer edges of the face to create definition.

On the eyes, she used TexasLiner Liquid black eyeliner to create the extended cat eye shape and TexasLash mascara for heavy, black lashes. Cargo eyeshadow in “flint” was used to contour the eye area and play off of the blue hue of the actress’ dress.

The blush was a shade called Mendocino, a peppy coral with a gold overtone, and the lipstick was a very similar shade called Sedona, which Douglass describes as a mix of coral and brick red, also with a gold overtone.
