Grammys: Carrie Underwood wears $31-million necklace, glowing dress

Share

Carrie Underwood was a show-stopper at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards for a number of reasons.

One of those numbers? Try $31 million, the value of the diamond necklace she wore on the red carpet and into the show, where she picked up the award for country solo performance for “Blown Away.”

The Johnathon Arndt piece featured 381 carats of oval, pear, marquise and round brilliant white diamonds, People reported. She paired it with a black strapless gown by Roberto Cavalli.

Now, as beautiful as that dress was, it was nothing compared with the shiny ivory Theia number she wore to perform “Blown Away” and “Two Black Cadillacs” later in the show. While the dress was pretty to start with, albeit a bit princess-looking, it truly became amazing once things got going and images were projected on the skirt as the singer stood in various places on the stage. (You can see it in action in the video above, along with the necklace.)

“On my last tour, we did an LED dress and that’s where the idea sparked,” Underwood told the Boot backstage at the awards. “We wanted it to be artful and dramatic.”

“I just like to stand still and sing sometimes,” she told Us Magazine, regarding competing with other wild performances during the show. “So this was the best way to do that, and it still created something visually attention-capturing and beautiful.”
