Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Garner and Reese Witherspoon will help hail the McConaissance.

The three actresses are among the friends and colleagues set to fete Matthew McConaughey, the 28th recipient of the American Cinematheque award, at the organization’s annual benefit gala on Oct. 21.

Late-night TV’s Jimmy Kimmel will host the event, which takes place at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. Other participants scheduled to pay tribute to the Oscar-winning actor include Cole Hauser (“Dazed and Confused”) and producer Lili Fini Zanuck (“Reign of Fire”), with additional presenters to be announced.

The nonprofit Cinematheque, which operates the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood and the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, named McConaughey its latest honoree in June, calling him “the epitome of what a Hollywood star should be.”

McConaughey, of course, rose to fame as a rom-com hunk but in recent years has reinvented himself as a serious dramatic actor. His notable performances include a well-regarded turn as a fugitive in the coming-of-age tale “Mud” (opposite Witherspoon), an Oscar-winning lead performance in the AIDS drama “Dallas Buyers Club” (opposite Garner) and a starring role in the acclaimed HBO series “True Detective.”

The 44-year-old actor will next star alongside Chastain in Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi drama “Interstellar,” which hits theaters Nov. 7.

Previous Cinematheque honorees include Martin Scorsese, Nicole Kidman, Denzel Washington and Jerry Bruckheimer.
