Emmys 2013: Let's talk about the 'saddest Emmys ever'

How did Jeff Daniels win the Emmy over Bryan Cranston? What was Carrie Underwood doing singing "Yesterday"? Why were the Emmys so sad? And what was with all that dancing, and might it have had something to do with that sadness?

Los Angeles Times television critic Mary McNamara and Gold Standard awards columnist Glenn Whipp got together with the Times' Stacey Leasca to bandy about these topics as well as discuss the night's bipolar nature that saw voters either rubber-stamp past winners or go in a bold and often nutty new direction.
