It’s the sort of news that Rust Cohle might celebrate with an unhurried swig of Lone Star beer: “True Detective” picked up four nominations for this years Television Critics Assn. Awards.

The hit HBO anthology series was nominated for program of the year, outstanding achievement in movies, miniseries and specials, and outstanding new program, and Matthew McConaughey was singled out for individual achievement in drama.

Tied with three nominations each are “The Good Wife,” after a full-charge fifth season, “Breaking Bad,” which ended its five-season run last summer, and “The Americans.”
