Columbus Short tests positive for cocaine and marijuana while on probation

Former “Scandal” actor Columbus Short tested positive for cocaine and marijuana use and has been ordered to appear in court on May 9 to address the potential probation violation for his felony assault case, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.

It’s the latest in a series of unpleasant headlines for Short, who played Harrison Wright for three seasons on ABC’s “Scandal,” until a bar fight in March 2014 led to felony assault charges. Just weeks ago, the actor’s wife, Tuere Tanee Short, filed for divorce after a slew of domestic violence accusations that included claims that Short put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. In April 2014, Short announced that he would not be returning to “Scandal.”

In August 2014, Short pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge and in September 2015, the actor pleaded no contest to a felony assault charge for the bar fight beating. He received community labor, mandatory anger management and domestic violence classes and probation for both charges.

During an interview with Access Hollywood in 2014, Short explained that many of his issues, including leaving “Scandal,” could be attributed to drinking and cocaine use.

Ludlow B. Creary II, Short’s lawyer, told AP, “It’s our belief that Mr. Short is going to continue to make progress.”
