Kelly Clarkson is pregnant -- that news straight from the horse's mouth. Er, Clarkson's Twitter account.
"I'm pregnant!!! Brandon and I are so excited! Best early Christmas present ever :)," the pop-country crossover crooner blurted Tuesday.
Guess that explains her coy approach to the notion of pregnancy when she appeared last week on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno."
Neither confirming nor denying that she was pregnant, the 31-year-old told Leno: "We're not announcing anything right now," which earned her a knowing roar from the studio audience.
(At least she didn't go on to announce the big news on Ellen DeGeneres' show, as Leno had feared.)
Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock, who manages country superstar Blake Shelton, were married quietly last month in a small ceremony in Tennessee. They'd gotten engaged last December after dating for about nine months.
Hmmm, think it's any coincidence that it's about a trimester since the original "American Idol" winner announced her intention to elope instead of getting married in a big fancy wedding?
Blackstock is already a father of two children from a previous marriage. This will be Clarkson's first child.
