Morena Baccarin is preparing to welcome a baby into her own “Homeland”: She’s pregnant!

The Brazilian actress plays Jessica Brody, the wronged wife of Damian Lewis’ double agent Nicholas Brody, on the Emmy-winning Showtime drama “Homeland.” She confirmed her baby news to People on Tuesday.

Baccarin, 33, married director-writer Austin Chick, 41, in November 2011. This will be the first child for both of them. No due date has been announced.

The “Firefly” and “V” alum is currently filming “Homeland’s” third season and Baccarin will have a go-to pregnancy source on set, which is no stranger to pregnant ladies. The show’s star, Claire Danes, was expecting her son Cyrus for quite a bit of filming during the thriller’s second season. However, some clever camera work hid her baby bump quite well.

(Y’know, the writers could always work Baccarin’s pregnancy into the story line too. She did have an affair with Brody’s best friend Mike when she believed her husband was dead. Just saying...)

Wishful thinking aside, it seems that Baccarin has already honed some mommy skills. Off-screen, she taught her on-screen daughter Morgan Saylor how to cook, specifically how to chop onions, Saylor told The Times. And she’s used Twitter to promote Saylor’s school project by urging her followers to support “her Homeland daughter’s” drama department.

They call that maternal instinct. Congrats, Morena!
