Hear the dinosaurs talk in the new ‘The Good Dinosaur’ trailer

Pixar has been fairly shy about showing off its new pack of talking prehistoric characters in “The Good Dinosaur,” instead focusing efforts on introducing audiences to the premise of the upcoming film: What if the dinosaurs had survived? But no more, the new trailer introduces a band of talking, joking and even howling dinos.

With opening shades of “The Land Before Time” (a little dinosaur separated from his dinosaur parent starts on a long journey home), “The Good Dinosaur” is set in a world where the asteriod that collided with the Earth, leading to the extinction of the dinosaurs, had instead missed. In this world, an young apatosaurus named Arlo (Raymond Ochoa) befriends a seemingly feral human named Spot (Jack Bright).

This new trailer, however, reveals a little more about the film. Arlo’s father Poppa (voiced by Jeffrey Wright) makes an appearance, and both he and Butch (a T-Rex voiced by Sam Elliott) are heard speaking for the first time.

The trailer also reveals the circumstances that lead to Arlo meeting Spot -- Arlo is separated from his father and befriends the (so far) nonspeaking human. And already we’re falling for the feral puppy boy act.

“The Good Dinosaur” also features Frances McDormand as Arlo’s mother, Steve Zahn as a pterodactyl named Thunderclap, AJ Buckley as a T-Rex named Nash, Anna Paquin as a T-Rex named Ramsey and Marcus Shribner as Arlo’s brother Buck.

The film, directed by Peter Sohn, will open in theaters on Nov. 25.
