Coachella has announced its annual slate of pre- and between-fest concerts around Southern California, and they've booked a few of the best Coachella acts to stick around in Los Angeles.
The experimental electronic/R&B artist FKA Twigs, L.A.'s favorite native daughter Jenny Lewis, the returning Scottish indie-pop perfectionists Belle & Sebastian and New York's post-punks Interpol are among the top highlights for sets around town. These smaller shows will take place in venues like the Theatre at the Ace in DTLA, Pappy & Harriet's in Pioneertown and the Fox Theatre in Pomona.
Other club-level highlights include Desaparecidos, the War on Drugs, Jamie XX and Jon Hopkins, and the Spanish electronic supergroup Hivern Discs. The shows take place between April 11 and May 1.
The sideshows, presented by Goldenvoice collaborators FYF Fest, are always a more indie-focused lineup than Coachella's main attractions, which this year skew toward classic rock like Steely Dan and AC/DC along with big-tent EDM. Tickets go on sale on various dates, including Jan. 29, Feb. 5 and Feb. 12 depending on the show.
Check Goldenvoice or FYF for the full lineup. If your Coachella ticket-buying trigger finger was slow this year, you could still score a few of these, drink a bunch of Heineken in your yard and re-create much of the experience at home.
