English neo-folk band Mumford & Sons have postponed three American concerts this week after their bassist, Ted Dwayne, was hospitalized on Monday with a blood clot in his brain. The Grammy-winning group, responsible for ubiquitous hits such as “I Will Wait” and “The Cave,” announced the news on its website Tuesday morning.

“Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment,” said a joint statement from the group. “The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care, and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery.

“Sadly we have to postpone three upcoming headline shows planned for this week in Dallas on Tuesday 6/11, Woodlands on Wednesday 6/12, and New Orleans on Thursday 6/13. All dates will be rescheduled and will be announced as soon as we can; all tickets for this week’s events will be honoured at their rescheduled dates. We have no plans to cancel or postpone any other appearances along this current tour.”

The post concluded, “We’re all wishing Ted a speedy recovery. Much love, Mumford & Sons.”

Mumford & Sons are one of the headliners at next weekend’s annual Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn. From there, their tour continues to Kansas City and concludes with two dates in Telluride, Colo.

FOR THE RECORD:
Mumford & Sons: An article in the June 12, 2013, Calendar section about a member of the English neo-folk band Mumford & Sons having been hospitalized with a blood clot in his brain misspelled the band member’s last name. He is Ted Dwane, not Ted Dwayne. Also, the caption in an earlier version of this post mistakenly identified another member of the band as Dwane. Dwane is at right, not left, in the photo.
