The Big Bang Theory Flooding in Amy’s (Mayim Bialik) apartment leads her to move in with Sheldon (Jim Parsons). Raj (Kunal Nayyar) learns the gender of Howard and Bernadette’s (Simon Helberg, Melissa Rauch) baby before they do. 8 p.m. CBS

Supergirl The series jumps to the CW network for its second season. Melissa Benoist and Calista Flockhart star, and Tyler Hoechlin joins the cast. 8 p.m. KTLA

Gotham Vowing he will make the city safe for citizens again, Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) appears to stand a real chance of being elected mayor. Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Morena Baccarin and Michael Chiklis also star. 8 p.m. Fox

Cake Wars Four bakers aim for the creepy and kooky while avoiding “ooky” as they battle to have their cake creations featured as the centerpiece at an Addams Family-themed celebration. 8 p.m. Food

2 Broke Girls The comedy begins its sixth season with a one-hour episode. Max and Caroline (Kat Dennings, Beth Behrs) now co-own the diner and are in charge of their soon-to-open Dessert Bar. Jennifer Coolidge also stars and Andy Dick guest stars. 9 p.m. CBS

Scorpion When Walter (Elyes Gabel) is accidentally launched into space in a rocket, the team must find a way to bring him home before his oxygen runs out. Katharine McPhee and Eddie Kaye Thomas also star. 10 p.m. CBS

Timeless Flynn (Goran Visnjic) is in cahoots with John Wilkes Booth (Kelly Blatz) and is headed for Ford’s Theatre in this new episode of the time-traveling drama. Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter and Malcolm Barrett also star. 10 p.m. NBC

Conviction A possible wrongful conviction case hits close to home for Wallace (Eddie Cahill), since it’s the one he built his career on. Hayley Atwell and Shawn Ashmore also star with guest star Bess Armstrong. 10 p.m. ABC

POV A family with a transgender father is profiled by one of its members, filmmaker Sharon Shattuck, in the documentary “From This Day Forward.” 10 p.m. KOCE
