‘Modern Family’ cast gathers for Cam and Mitch’s wedding reception

The fifth season finale of “Modern Family” on Wednesday promises to finally bring fans the long-awaited wedding of Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), an event that seems extremely timely considering the news of gay marriage bans being struck down in state after state. And to celebrate, the cast gathered at the 20th Century Fox lot on Monday for a real-life reception.

The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles performed at the event, which also featured a screening of the final two episodes of “Modern Family’s” fifth season and a Q&A.

The day after the event, but before the season finale airs, a federal judge in Philadelphia declared Pennsylvania’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional. That ruling made it the 19th state to allow same-sex marriage.

Gay marriage became legal in California in the summer of 2013 after much legal maneuvering following the passing of Proposition 8 in 2008, which had banned same-sex marriage in the state.
