Baz Luhrmann, Catherine Martin team with Barneys for the holidays

Barneys New York announced Monday that it will collaborate for the holidays with writer/director/producer Baz Luhrmann and fashion and set designer Catherine Martin. The husband-and-wife team have worked together on films including “The Great Gatsby” and “Moulin Rouge.” For the Barneys collaboration, called Baz Dazzled, they will design windows and other decor at the retailer’s Madison Avenue flagship. According to a news release, 25% of proceeds from a collection of Baz Dazzled merchandise has been promised to Room to Read, which works to improve literacy and educational opportunities for children throughout the world.

“Snoopy and Belle in Fashion” opened Monday night at New York’s New Museum Sky Room. The exhibit features vinyl dolls of the “Peanuts” characters dressed in custom couture from designers including Isaac Mizrahi, Diane von Furstenberg, Christian Siriano and Betsey Johnson. [Los Angeles Times]
