The Headwear Assn.’s free hat handout returns June 19

Share

The pro-topper trade group known as the Headwear Assn. (THA) will be touting the sun-protection benefits of broad-brimmed sun-protection hats by handing out thousands of them nationwide -- free of charge – on June 19.

It’s the THA’s seventh annual Hat Day in the Sun, part of the lid lobby group’s public awareness campaign to educate people on how the right headgear can help protect against skin cancer, sun damage and premature aging. Host cities for the hat giveaways include New York City, Boston, Philadelphia and Charleston, S.C.

The Golden State has several golden opportunities to hat up, with events scheduled for the cities of Stockton, Santa Cruz and Los Angeles. Complete event details will be posted at TheHeadwearAssociation.org as they’re firmed up (some are still TBA), but we can tell you the L.A.-area event, sponsored by Magid Hats and the Dorfman Pacific Hat Company, is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Media Noche boutique, 5048 Eagle Rock Blvd.

Those who are too far afield to attend (or who might simply be trying to avoid exposure to the sun), there’s also a giveaway opportunity accessible through the group’s Facebook page.

This year’s broad-brimmed freebies are being provided by THA member companies Broner, Dorfman Pacific, Bollman Hat Company, Magid, Wallaroo, San Diego Hat Company, Korber and Head’n Home American Hat Makers.
