The rest of the world will have to wait until tomorrow for a look at designer Tom Ford’s newest project -- a namesake men’s wear line of luxurious suits and sportswear. That’s when his flagship store opens on Madison Avenue here in New York. But the fashion press and FOT (Friends of Tom) were out in full force last night at an in-store bash celebrating the highly anticipated collection. The guests included Ford’s business partner Domenico De Sole and Elle magazine creative director Joe Zee (who mused aloud about selling his apartment for one of the made-to-measure suits).

But the ones garnering the most attention were the dashing men folk who circulated through the party modeling the Spring ’07 line. “This is Johannes,” cooed one publicist. “He’s Tyrolean.”

While the West Coast may have to wait to get a taste of Tom (the line won’t expand beyond the Manhattan store until next year), we can expect to get a second shot of Fred -- as in Frédéric Fekkai, tress tamer to stars (including Holly Hunter and Kim Basinger) -- by July.

After Fekkai and the Mirror found themselves elbow to elbow at last night’s fete, the hair stylist said he’d outgrown the Rodeo Drive salon he opened a decade ago. “But it’s a nice size and in a good spot so rather than expand, we thought we’d open a second one,” he said. “And we found the perfect spot on Melrose Place.”

Isn’t that just a few doors down from the famed Sally Hershberger at John Frieda Salon? Sounds like we’re in for some “Hair Wars.”
