Lambertson Truex brings more luxury to Melrose Place

The quaint enclave of Melrose Place has another luxury resident: Lambertson Truex, the New York accessories maker, opened its first boutique this week on the exclusive, sun-dappled street.

The line’s creative directors, Richard Lambertson and John Truex, aimed to create a space that Lambertson calls “comfortable, intimate and residential.” All the furniture and fixtures in the store are custom made or antiques. Nineteenth century museum cases from France house small clutches, and 1950s lamps illuminate a wall lined with summer sandals. Several furnishings were purchased in the neighboring antique shops that line La Cienega Boulevard.

The designers pride themselves on creating pieces that reflect timeless luxury. The women’s line of everyday bags (including their popular “Framed Clutch”) and strappy heels range from $495 for shoes to $20,000 for a crocodile duffle. Their men’s line of briefcases, belts and shoes is priced similarly. All pieces are traditional yet clean in design, with signature azure blue suede lining every bag.

For the ultimate in luxury, a bespoke area in the back of the store will accommodate clients who want to create custom bags, totes and accessories in crocodile, ostrich and lizard skins to name a few.

Lambertson Truex, which was acquired by Samsonite in July, plans a second boutique later this year on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
