The table is set. The prosecco is chilled. Now it’s time to slip into your party attire before your guests arrive. Somehow, a little black dress and stilettos doesn’t feel right this time.
So what do you wear? Try elevated and stylish loungewear.
“If you’re running around and cooking, the last thing you want to do is feel restricted in a dress and heels,” Ashley Fultz, a Los Angeles stylist, said. “Instead, opt for a pair of embellished flats that still make any look polished.”
Other pieces she recommends are trousers, ideally with an expandable waistline, paired with a lightweight sweater.
Fashion stylist Heathyr Wolfe said she leans toward velvet at this time of year, and that silhouettes should be relaxed.
“For dresses and pants, keep it feminine and flowing,” she said. “Loose can be stylish and on-trend.” Color is also important, she said. So look for pieces in deep red, purple and pale blue.
