Genius Father’s Day brunch event: Beer with coffee (and lots of great food)

Share

Does your dad love beer as much as you? Sunday is Father’s Day; why not share some local craft beer with your dad to celebrate?

Beer + Coffee

FoodGPS has teamed up with Firestone Walker Brewing Co. to present the “CollaBREWtive Brunch” where local craft breweries, coffee roasters and chefs team-up to provide unique food and brews.

Each brewery was paired with a coffee roaster to create a special coffee-infused beer for the event, and the brewers, roasters, and chefs will be at the brunch to discuss their collaborations. The chefs include: Genevieve Gergis and Ori Menashe from Bestia, Daniel Mattern and Roxana Jullapat from Cooks County, Zoe Nathan from Huckleberry and Milo & Olive, Jason Travi from Littlefork, John Sedlar from Rivera and Steve Samson and Zach Pollack from Soto.

There are six breweries featured at the event pouring creations such as Firestone Walker Parabola, barrel-aged stout infused with Intelligentsia coffee, and Beachwood Brewing’s popular System of a Stout -- a rich imperial stout infused with a custom Armenian coffee blend from Portola Coffee Lab. Ladyface Ale Companie teamed with LAMILL Coffee for a caffeinated IPA, Golden Road Brewing’s new brewmaster finally got to brew a beer that’s been on his mind for years -- a West Coast-style mild ale spikes with Handsome Roasters coffee -- and Cismontane Brewing Co. will offer four versions of their blonde ale with different hops and coffee infusions.

The brunch begins at 11:30 on Sunday morning at Downtown’s Lot 613, and the $50 tickets can be purchased online. Kids 12 and under are half price, and you don’t need to be a father to enjoy the brews and noshes.

Lot 613, 613 Imperial St., Los Angeles, (323) 934-7777.

BBQ and Brews

If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, Eagle Rock Brewery is firing up the grill for an all-day Father’s Day BBQ. The crew from Flat Iron Grill will be serving burgers, steaks, mac ‘n’ cheese with bacon, and the brewery will have specials and “more surprises” -- perhaps the new bottle release that the brewers have been teasing lately? -- on-hand.

The festivities begin at noon on Sunday at the brewery; see more details and RSVP for the BBQ on the ERB site.
