Grove hosts events for prom-goers, Zumba lovers

The Grove has a couple of special events coming up this week, of interest to prom-goers and fitness buffs.

The new Topshop Topman store has a special prom-planning event scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Teens can get styling tips from the store staff, make appointments for hairstyling, nails and makeovers, and listen to prom tunes spun by DJs. A complimentary clutch will be given to customers who spend $100 or more.

On Saturday, Athleta is offering a 4 p.m. Zumba class taught by Catherine Garceau, who won an Olympic bronze medal as part of Canada’s synchronized swimming team in 2000. There will be giveaways -- including a yoga outfit styled by Garceau -- every 30 minutes from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Vintage

A Current Affair plans a pop-up vintage marketplace featuring more than 40 vendors from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the penthouse at 860 S. Los Angeles St. Valet parking is available under the Cooper Building. Admission is $10 and may be purchased online or at the door. Besides shopping, there will be an open bar, refreshments and music by KCRW DJ Marion Hodges.

The L.A. Antique Jewelry and Watch Show is planned for this weekend at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, 2025 Avenue of the Stars, Century City. More than 100 dealers in antique jewelry are expected to show their wares. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $20 to attend all three days. “Fashion Star” host Louise Roe and luxury shoe designer Ruthie Davis are scheduled to show off Davis’ collection and meet the public at 2 p.m. Saturday in the women’s shoe department at Bloomingdale’s, 10250 Santa Monica Blvd., Century City.

Hudson Jeans and Nylon magazine are presenting Denim Days shopping events from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday at the Bloomingdale’s stores at the Beverly Center, 8500 Beverly Blvd., Beverly Hills, and Fashion Island, 701 Newport Center Dr., Newport Beach. Shoppers can try on jeans, make use of a photo booth and partake of refreshments while listening to tunes spun by a DJ.

Rockin Models and Kin of Los Angeles are sponsoring The Love of Fashion, a cocktail mixer with a live auction to benefit the Lupus Foundation of America. The event is hosted by Mercedes Yvette -- a finalist on season two of “America’s Next Top Model” and the national spokeswoman for the Lupus Foundation -- and celebrity trainer Grace Lazenby, founder of Rocking Models. The event is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday at Kin, 8555 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood. A $20 donation at the door will go to the Lupus Foundation and entitle the donor to a $20 credit at Kin.

Niche perfumer Sarah Horowitz -- whose celebrity clients include Jessica Biel, Madonna and Jennifer Garner -- has opened Original Scent, a fragrance blending bar, at the Nikki West Boutique One Colorado, 34 Hugus Alley, in Pasadena. At the bar, customers can blend their own scents with help from Horowitz and her staff. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Margaret O’Leary, designer of “California chic” knitwear, has opened a boutique -- her ninth -- at 1012 1/2 Manhattan Ave., Manhattan Beach.
