Made-in-America men’s pop-up shop makes L.A. debut April 6

Share

Northern Grade, a traveling temporary marketplace stocked with a range of American-made menswear, accessories and grooming products, is set to make its West Coast debut in Los Angeles on April 6 and 7.

The brainchild of Mac and Katherine McMillan (the husband-and-wife team behind Minneapolis-based neckwear label Pierrepont Hicks), the peripatetic pop-up has been popping up across the Midwest for the last four years, bringing a curated collection of domestically made guys’ goods to a consumer base that seems to have an ever-increasing appetite for American-made wares.

For its inaugural outing in the City of Angels, Northern Grade has partnered with Los Angeles based menswear line Apolis (the pop-up will be located not far from the brand’s East 3rd Street retail space). In addition to those two labels, the roster of participating vendors includes locals -- L.A.-based Imperial Barber Products, Silver Lake retailer Mohawk General Store and Newport Beach’s Almond Surfboards & Designs, among them -- and indie-cool and heritage brands from further afield, such as shirtmakers Taylor Stitch (from San Francisco), Chippewa Boots (Ft. Worth, Texas) and Bklyn Dry Goods (Brooklyn).
