New BB creams and what they do

Which BB cream is right for you? Here is a sampling of some products on the market or soon to be.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB cream has vitamin C, tinted minerals and hyaluronic acid and comes in light-medium and medium-dark. It costs $12.99 at mass market retailers.

Sulwhasoo Snowise brightening cream is originally from S. Korea and launched in the U.S. this year. It contains 10 minerals and pigments, including white ginseng polysaccharides to help with brightening. It is available in two colors and costs $60 at select Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus stores as well as at Us.sulwhasoo.com.

A whitening peptide in 3Lab Perfect BB cream SPF 40 helps illuminate the skin while Swiss apple stem cells work on anti-aging. It’s available in three colors for $95 at Barneys, Nordstrom and online.

There are also antiaging components in Dior Beauty Hydra Life BB crème SPF 30, which contains broad spectrum UV protection and a subtle foundation that works with most skin tones. It retails for $56 through Dior counters and online.

Dr. Jart premium beauty balm contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide for sun protection and arbutin for brightening, selling for $39. The brand also makes an oil-free Water Fuse Beauty Balm that contains seawater extract and aloe, $32. Both are available at Sephora and Sephora.com.

Too Faced tinted beauty balm comes in four shades that contain light-diffusing pigments and a multi-mineral complex to protect the skin from environmental damage. It retails for $32 through Sephora, Ulta and Toofaced.com.

Japanese brand Koh Gen Do introduced its Oriental Plants Moisture Veil balm to the U.S. this spring. The colorless balm contains licorice for skin brightening and oils of perilla seed, olive, avocado and jojoba seed. It sells for $55 at Kohgendocosmetics.com, Barneys and Sephora.

At the upper end of the market is the EGF blemish balm from Dermaesthetics. The $140 product contains something called Epidermal Growth Factor, which is said to help with cell restoration, and it has a natural tint to conceal any scarring or discoloration. It’s available at Dermaestheticsusa.com.

There are three shades of the new Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB cream. The product also contains vitamin C and other antioxidants and plant extracts. It costs $49.95 at Hydroxatone.com.

High-end skin-care brand Le Mieux plans to launch a new BB cream later this year. It will be a tinted product with sheer coverage that moisturizes and offers sun protection.
