The luxe ease of the oasis

The Etro spring collection was an eye-popping parade of hot pink, turquoise, gold and paisley prints, with the richness of the fabric and ease of loose layers and mixed patterns channeling luxurious holidays in the sun. And who doesn’t want a taste of escape right now?

If Morocco calls you, don’t be afraid to mix prints, patterns and vibrant colors with metallics, blending the sophistication of a metallic brocade jacket with a more casual item such as a T-shirt in a vivid hue. Channel Talitha Getty’s luxe hippie look with lightweight cropped pants, breezy embroidered tops and rich gold jewelry dripping with bright, exotic stones. Throw on some flat, strappy gold sandals to pick up the shimmer of the brocade, and echo the color in the shirt with a multicolored jeweled cuff or printed pink scarf. But keep the pops of color to just one or two small pieces. Too many brights battle the effect of the metallics, and the combination begins to shade toward a ‘70s roller-skating get-up instead of suggesting Marrakech.

The look is bright, elegant and optimistic, with shots of summer color against bronze, gold, tan and white.
