Matthew Biancaniello 15-course cocktail menu at Chaya; La Descarga rum, cigars

Bartender Matthew Biancaniello is taking over the Kaisen sushi bar at Chaya in downtown Los Angeles for a special 15-course “omakocktail” event Jan. 24. Miss Chiffonade writer and cocktail maven Emily Han will join Biancaniello at the bar. A menu has yet to be finalized, but Biancaniello plans to serve a sort of greatest hits list of cocktails from the last two years, as well as a couple of new liquid and edible cocktails. The tasting will be accompanied by three courses of food from the Chaya culinary team. There will be two seatings, one at 6:30 p.m. and one at 8:30 p.m., with 24 total seats. La Descarga is hosting a cigars and rum event Wednesday at 8 p.m. The event will feature a hand-rolled cigar presentation, a Payne Mason cigar, five rum tasting from the Plantation Rum line of rums, and a full pour of the Plantation Rum of your choice.
