Thanksgiving takeout and dining options

There are at least a couple of ways to deal with the fact that you have yet to plan Thanksgiving dinner: reservations at any of the dozens of restaurants that will be celebrating the holiday, or takeout.

In addition to the listings below, check your local grocer for takeout options. And besides many notable hotel dining rooms, restaurants all over the Southland are offering wonderful menus for Thanksgiving dinner. You’ve got choices from the traditional to the not-so-traditional to the vegan. Oh, and there’s sushi.

Ammo is offering Thanksgiving takeout, everything priced a la carte, including house-cured salmon with crème fraîche; charcuterie; cheeses; 12- to 14-pound Willie Bird free-range turkeys, cooked ($85) or uncooked and oven-ready ($75); roasted sweet potatoes with spicy maple butter; horseradish mashed potatoes; and whole-grain chestnut and sage stuffing. Auntie Em’s Kitchen in Eagle Rock, in addition to pickup orders, is offering delivery for $25 extra. The meal centers on either a turkey breast or a vegetarian savory nut pie, with all the basic fixings (gravy, stuffing, sweet and mashed potatoes) for $35 per person, plus a variety of sides, $9.95 to $12.95 for servings for four. Clay Oven in Irvine is preparing its tandoori Thanksgiving, with a 10- to 12-pound free-range, skinned turkey that is marinated for 48 hours in a blend of fresh spices, then cooked in the mesquite-fired tandoor oven. It comes with basmati rice stuffing and cranberry chutney, and, at $54.95, serves six people comfortably. At Grace, Neal Fraser is deep-frying turkeys ($145 for eight servings) and offering a dozen other dishes, including thyme and black truffle turkey gravy, braised baby vegetables and cream cheese and chive biscuits. Desserts include a sweet potato pecan pie with toasted bourbon marshmallow and orange crème anglaise and sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and cranberries (each option is $30 for eight servings). Guelaguetza is preparing Oaxacan-style turkeys with a deliriously rich stuffing of prunes, raisins, olives, capers, ground beef and potatoes. The turkey is marinated (and injected) with a spicy wine sauce. The meal serves six to eight, comes with potato salad, bean paste and chiles vinagre, all for $65. Gus’s Barbecue will prepare your holiday meal with all the trimmings: 10- to 12-pound smoked turkey, 1 quart of gravy, 1 quart of corn bread stuffing and 1 quart of cranberry sauce. For take-home Thanksgiving trimmings from Josie, you can order from a selection of appetizers, soups, salads, side dishes and desserts. M Cafe is offering an organic macrobiotic Thanksgiving menu: a holiday soup and salad and a choice of two sides to accompany your choice of entree. Savory sliced seitan with herbed bread stuffing, pan gravy and cranberry relish is $60 for two, $110 for four. Stuffed filet of sole with seafood stuffing, soy hollandaise and wild rice pilaf is $75 for two, $135 for four. Accompaniments also can be ordered a la carte. Orders must be placed by Nov. 24. At Olives Gourmet Grocer, a full Diestel natural turkey for eight (10 to 12 pounds) comes with the works -- potatoes, yams, vegetables, stuffing -- and pumpkin pie for $130. Or for couples, there’s turkey breast, the same dinner and a small pie for $40. The cutoff for orders is Saturday, but the store will continue taking orders until sold out. 3510 E. Real Food Daily (both locations) provides vegetarian organic dinners with tofu and tempeh faux turkey breast at center stage. Sapphire Pantry offers a whole Diestel natural hen turkey with bread and fruit dressing and all the fixings, including a cranberry-quince chutney and pumpkin pie, at $345 for six to eight people. There is also a two-person menu available for pre-order this year that includes a turkey breast and all the fixings for $68. 71 Palm, the country French restaurant in Ventura, is preparing either individual herb-roasted hen turkey breast with the fixings or whole turkeys, calculated at a pound per person. Along with stuffing and vegetables, the meal includes macadamia-crusted garnet yams and an apple tart to finish. Zov’s Bistro replaces the standard stuffing with a wild mushroom, black currant, pine nut and jasmine rice mix. The turkey is free-range, serves 12 to 15 and comes with salad, maple-glazed roasted yams, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish -- the works -- and a choice of pies, for $375. Akasha, the organic locavore spot in Culver City, has something for vegans as well as turkey lovers: There’s slow-roasted turkey or tofu. There’s a generous list of sides, including corn meal and andouille sausage stuffing -- the first is included, but after that it’s $8 per side. Angeli Caffe has two seatings for communal family-style Thanksgiving dinner, 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The menu includes herbed dried fruit bread stuffing, pumpkin souffléd fondue, greens braised with garlic and hot pepper, and pies. Balboa Bay Club and Resort is serving a traditional feast, accompanied by live piano music, from 1 to 8 p.m. in the First Cabin Restaurant, overlooking Newport Bay. Beacon is preparing both traditional Thanksgiving and Asian options. Dinner starts with a choice of five first courses, such as grilled shrimp with stone-ground grits and roasted tomato sauce. Five main-course options include turkey, black cod or a vegetarian porcini mushroom ravioli, with a choice of seven sides, one of which is an old-fashioned chestnut and sausage stuffing. Bistro Garden at Coldwater is offering not only traditional roast turkey with all the fixings but also choices of short ribs or whitefish. Bistro la Cachette has lined up a four-course Thanksgiving menu, but the main event is your choice of roasted turkey and stuffing, Petrale sole with cauliflower gratin or Moroccan squash ravioli. At Bottega Louie, the $40 three-course Thanksgiving dinner includes Little Gem lettuces with dried cranberries and Humboldt Fog goat cheese or butternut squash soup; free-range turkey or pineapple ham or grilled Alaskan salmon, served with fall vegetables, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, stuffing, yams and cranberry sauce; and apple pie à la mode or pumpkin pie. The Thanksgiving menu at Caché includes fire-roasted pumpkin soup or foie gras served with glazed apples and a Calvados reduction. For entrees, guests can choose between sea bass, prime rib or free-range turkey. All dishes come with praline pecan yams, roasted root vegetables, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes. Keep it classic for dessert with apple, pumpkin or pecan pie. Cafe del Rey, along with views of the marina, is offering a three-course meal -- but the choice for those courses is considerable. After an amuse, there are six options for first course, including oysters, crab cakes and sweetbreads. The main course could be turkey, diver scallops, pork chops or any of three more choices. Desserts include pumpkin pie, of course, but there’s also apple crepes or chocolate cake. Cafe Was, Ivan Kane’s speak-easy-inspired, trendy Hollywood lounge, is serving a fairly traditional Thanksgiving dinner -- organic turkey breast cooked sous vide with lemon and maple, plus a leg stuffed with chestnut. The dinner includes a choice of sides, and either tarte tatin or pumpkin panna cotta. The signature revolving piano will also be in service. $55 for adults, $26 for children 12 and younger. 1521 N. Campanile will be serving a prix fixe meal including mushroom barley soup, a choice of salads or chicken liver crostini, your choice of organic Willie Bird turkey breast, leg or thigh served with mustard-grain gravy, and sides including bread pudding, succotash and so on. Craft Los Angeles, where meals are served family-style, is offering two first courses, including a spiced pork terrine with poached pear and a frisee salad with chestnuts and black truffle, then a choice between turkey, prime rib or roasted Scottish salmon, including six side dishes and, if you have room, a choice of four desserts. Pumpkin bread pudding is one, but there is also chocolate pecan pie. Dakota in the Roosevelt Hotel is offering a Thanksgiving prix fixe with a choice of starters such as Kobe beef cheek gnocchi and butternut bisque and a selection of entrees including thyme roasted organic turkey. Dessert choices are chocolate-covered pumpkin cheesecake and warm apple tartin. Noon to 8 p.m., $65 per person. Takeout is also available. Descanso Gardens will offer a Thanksgiving menu catered by Patina Catering, a buffet in Van de Kamp Hall. The menu includes brown sugar-brined roasted turkey, herbed stuffing and cane sugar-roasted sweet potatoes with marshmallow meringue. $37 for Descanso members, $45 for nonmembers, $15 for kids 3 to 12, free for kids younger than 3. Fiamme Restaurant & Bar is preparing a traditional Thanksgiving Day feast with a few Italian touches. Five courses will be served family-style, featuring a choice of antipasti, salads, pumpkin or mushroom ravioli, turkey or baked ham and desserts. The cost is $34.99 per person (children 10 and younger, $9.99), 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fiamme also is offering both the Thanksgiving menu and its full regular menu available for pickup. $24.99 per portion for the Thanksgiving menu. Five Crowns, the English-tavern-inspired institution in Corona del Mar, is presenting a choice of five first courses, then a variety of mains, including turkey and various cuts of prime rib, pork rib, salmon or lamb, from $29 to $49. Gordon Ramsay at the London West Hollywood is offering Thanksgiving, serving plenty of options such as roasted organic turkey served with herb and chestnut stuffing, buttered carrot, and leeks lemon thyme jus, or dry-aged Black Angus sirloin steak with creamed potato, mushroom a la crème and truffle Madeira sauce. $85 per person. Henry’s Hat opens Thanksgiving at 9 a.m., serving brunch all day long (including two-for-one mojitos and Bloody Marys, and bottomless mimosas and sangria). Jiraffe‘s Thanksgiving menu features three courses, with a choice of three appetizers, entrees, optional sides and house-made pies for dessert. Among the first-course options are butternut squash soup with duck confit and foie gras au torchon. Locanda del Lago offers three- and four-course Italian-inflected Thanksgiving menus with a choice of main courses: rainbow trout filet or roasted turkey. “Thanksgiving-to-Go” features a whole deboned turkey with chestnut-apple stuffing, Italian shepherd’s pie and savoy cabbage involtino. The Loft restaurant at the Montage Laguna Beach, on a bluff overlooking the Pacific, plans a traditional four-course dinner from noon to 10 p.m. $90 adults, $35 for ages 4 to 12. The resort’s other restaurants will also have special menus, including a five-course tasting menu at Studio from 4 to 9 p.m. $115, $185 with wine pairings. Mélisse, a Michelin two-star restaurant, is preparing the traditional turkey and pumpkin pie, but there’s a lot more to choose from. There are five choices for the first course, including Maine lobster ravioli, diver scallops or seared foie gras. Aside from the turkey with chanterelle-apple-brioche stuffing, there’s prime rib, crispy sea bass or wild mushroom, sweet onion and burrata torte. Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro is offering a traditional feast with all the classic trimmings. Organic turkey is served with gravy and homemade cranberry relish in the downstairs bistro for $24 per person. At the upstairs Morels Steakhouse, guests can enjoy a three-course dinner for $65 per person. Downtown steakhouse Nick & Stef’s is serving up hand-carved turkey or roasted prime rib with your choice of brioche-sage or corn bread-raisin stuffing and all the traditional Thanksgiving fixings. Oliverio is serving a $65 four-course menu. To start, choose between a butternut squash bisque and a roasted beet salad featuring greens from the rooftop garden.
