Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour knew that putting Kanye West and Kim Kardashian on the magazine cover this year would be controversial. “I think if we just remain deeply tasteful and just put deeply tasteful people on the cover, it would be a rather boring magazine! Nobody would talk about us. It’s very important that people do talk about us,” she said in a talk Monday night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. She also applauded Estée Lauder’s decision to hire Kardashian’s half-sister, 19-year-old model Kendall Jenner, to appear in ad campaigns. “What a fantastic decision that was! They have a wonderful brand that’s very traditionally American, and they decided they want to shake it up and reach a different audience. Now and again one has to do things like that. I think it’s part of the excitement and part of being a journalist. I hope another Kim Kardashian comes along this year!” [Fashionista]

(Um, did Anna Wintour just call Kim Kardashian a has-been?)

The 2015 Pirelli calendar -- the ultra exclusive pin-up-girl calendar featuring top cover girls in exotic locations wearing little to no clothing -- features its first plus-size model this year, Candice Huffine. In an interview with Kathleen Hou on the Cut blog, Huffine says including a larger model is an exciting move. “It signifies so much and is such a bold and brilliant move on Pirelli and [photographer Steven] Meisel’s part. It’s their understanding: They know that sexy can be in different shapes and sizes. They’re willing to take the risk and do something new. It’s just overwhelming in the best of ways.” [The Cut]
