The Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue magazine switched things up for the 2015 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, giving top honors to three designers — Jonathan Simkhai, Brother Vellies’ Aurora James and Gypsy Sports’ Rio Uribe — at Monday night’s awards ceremony in New York City.

“For the first time in the Fashion Fund’s twelve-year history, we decided to award three equal winners because of the strength and diversity of this year’s finalists,” CFDA President and Chief Executive Steven Kolb said in a news release Tuesday announcing the winners.

For the past 11 years, the program has picked a single winner and two runners-up from the field of 10 finalists. In 2014, the top honor went to Paul Andrew (Eva Zuckerman of Eva Fehren and Ryan Roche were chosen as runners-up); in 2013, Public School’s Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne got the nod; and The Elder Statesman’s Greg Chait won the award in 2012.

The troika of this year’s winners was chosen from a field of finalists who included Baja East’s Scott Studenberg and John Targon; Baldwin’s Matt Baldwin; Brad Schmidt and Raul Arevalo for their Cadet label; CG’s Chris Gelinas; Chromat’s Becca McCharen; David Hart; and Thaddeus O’Neil.

The 12th annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners were announced at a dinner and ceremony Monday night at Spring Studios in New York City.
