‘Rosewood’ gets full season order from Fox

Fox’s “Rosewood” has a rosy future.

The freshman drama about a charismatic and brilliant private pathologist who teams up with a Miami police detective to solve crimes has been given a full season. The series has been paired on the network’s Wednesday lineup with the blockbuster hit “Empire.”

“ ‘Rosewood’ has proven to be a real self-starter for us, which is a tremendous feat on this highly competitive night,” David Madden, president of entertainment for Fox Broadcasting, said in a statement.

The drama is averaging 7.3 million viewers.

Rosewood stars Morris Chestnut, Jaina Lee Ortiz and Lorraine Toussaint. Taye Diggs, who appeared with Chestnut in “The Best Man” and “The Best Man Holiday,” will join the cast in a recurring role starting in November.
