Actor Jeff Bridges is asking $29.5 million for his vineyard estate in Montecito
Actor Jeff Bridges and his wife, Susan, have listed their estate in the Montecito foothills for $29.5 million.
Called Villa Santa Lucia, the 19.5-acre gated property opens to a long driveway that crosses a stream and ends at a circular stone-paved motor court.
Set amid mature olive trees, oaks and Italian cypress, the 9,535-square-foot Tuscany-inspired house was designed by Santa Barbara architect Barry Berkus and built in 1988.
A massive hand-carved front door sets an Old World tone. Inside, a two-story entry hall is anchored by stone columns. The central hallway, lined with wrought iron sconces, leads to a sunken living room with an antique stone fireplace, a century-old beam ceiling and arch-top French doors that open onto a terrace with ocean views.
A coffer and beam ceiling, terra cotta pavers and French doors grace the dining room.
The library/study features rough-sawn beams reclaimed from East Coast bridges, parquet floors and built-in bookcases. Off the room is an open air walkway with a vaulted ceiling and a hedged secret garden.
A stairwell beside the story-level master suite leads to a third-floor tower room. The study/meditation room features a fireplace and opens onto a roof deck with panoramic views.
A 770-square-foot attached guest cottage features a living room with skylight, a galley kitchen, a fireplace, a bedroom and a bathroom.
Beyond the motor court is a 710-square-foot home theater and recording studio.
A detached guest house of more than 1,800 square feet has a semi-circular shaped living and dining room with a fireplace, a galley kitchen and two bedrooms.
Expanses of lawn and an elevated deck surround the swimming pool, which is edged with stone. A wisteria-covered trellis with outdoor fireplace, a kitchen, changing rooms and a bathroom complete the pool area.
Fruit orchards, vineyards, hiking trails, a rustic playhouse and a footbridge over the stream are also on the grounds.
The property was once owned by Grammy-winning musician Kenny Loggins. The Bridgeses paid slightly less than $7 million for the estate in 1994, according to L.A. Times reports at the time.
Bridges, 65, won an Oscar for “Crazy Heart” in 2010. Among his film credits are “The Giver” (2014), “True Grit” (2010) and “The Big Lebowski” (1998).
