Parents of actress Jennifer Lawrence sell a townhouse in Santa Monica

The mother and father of Hollywood film star Jennifer Lawrence have sold a townhouse in Santa Monica $1.15 million.

Despite being widely reported as being owned by the actress herself, a grant deed and multiple assessment records obtained by The Times show that the two-bedroom residence had been in possession of her parents, Karen and Gary Lawrence, since 2006. That was the same year the family moved a 16-year-old Lawrence from Kentucky to L.A. so she could pursue her acting career.

Lawrence would land her first recurring television role on “The Bill Engvall Show” in 2007, with her first film role (“Garden Party”) coming the following year.

Located north of Wilshire Boulevard, about two miles from Santa Monica State Beach, the roughly 1,400-square-foot unit has hardwood floors, recessed lighting and a living room with a fireplace. Sliding glass doors off the dining room open to the outdoors.

Other features of note include a kitchen with granite countertops. A two-car garage was also included with the unit.

The property came to market in June for $1.169 million and sold in just under one month, records show.

Andrew Thurm and Brett Raskin of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage were the listing agents. Sue Miller, also of Coldwell Banker, represented the buyer.

Jennifer Lawrence, among the highest-paid actresses in the business, lives in Beverly Crest. Two years ago, she paid $8.255 million for a home formerly owned by Jessica Simpson.

Her parents, too, have found other accommodations. Last month, they paid $2.75 million for a another townhouse in the Santa Monica area.
