Everybody was kung fu fighting

Action film star Jason Statham sold his Hollywood Hills compound this week to “The Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki for an eye-popping $9.2 million. That’s $201,000 above the asking price.

Martial artist Statham is part of the chain of fools who have parted with this magnificent Mediterranean estate including actors Ben Stiller and Lou Diamond Phillips.

Too sexy for his shirt

Who knew “Dancing With the Stars” pro hoofer Mark Ballas had such a huge following?

The dancing machine cleaned up the online dance floor with a two-step of sorts, selling a stylish Mid-Wilshire penthouse for $840,000 and sashaying over to the Beverly Crest area, where he is now partnered with a 1970s home that cost him $2.525 million.

Travelin’ Shoes

Controversial radio and television host Colin Cowherd couldn’t get out of Connecticut fast enough.

The former ESPN personality, who was dropped by the network for comments made on his radio show, cut his losses in West Hartford, selling his home for $190,000 less than what he paid for it in 2010.

Rumored to be joining Los Angeles-based Fox Sports, Cowherd may have scripted his move to the rival network with the purchase of a $3.095-million home in Manhattan Beach.

The 3,700-square-foot home features wide-plank wood floors, a wine cellar and an open-area kitchen.

It’s my house

Thirty years ago this week, singer Diana Ross recorded a real estate hit with the $1.75-million sale of her home in Beverly Hills to “Cheers” director-producer James Burrows.

The first home she owned in L.A., the 6,833-square-foot house was built for Donald Factor, grandson of cosmetics czar Max Factor Sr., and customized by the singer during her ownership. Among her signature additions: walls of mirrors and a custom recording studio.

Unchained

Alex Van Halen of Van Halen fame followed up the release of the band’s 10th studio album, “Balance,” with an encore sale in Beverly Hills 20 years ago this week.

The rock drummer sold his 5,500-square-foot Mediterranean villa with an 800-square-foot recording studio for $1.325 million -- $575,000 shy of his asking price.

This used to be my playground

A Wallace Neff-designed compound in Los Feliz has proved to be a popular draw among celebrities for more than two decades.

Ten years ago this week, actress Katey Sagal sold the Spanish-style home known as Los Pavoreales to child actor and producer Rachel Sweet for $4.7 million.

Sagal had bought the house in 2004 from actress Jenna Elfman, who had purchased it from Madonna in 2000. Sweet later sold the house in 2010 to an investment banker for $4.895 million.

Island in the sun

No man is an island, but apparently a house can be one. Check out Just Enough Room Island in New York’s Thousand Islands chain. (Yes, that’s where the famous salad dressing originated.) The 1950s home is built practically to the shoreline.
