Making scents of fragrance at AIX Scent Fair

Ignite your olfactory senses at this weekend’s independent AIX Scent Fair hosted by the Institute for Art and Olfaction and Luckyscent/Scent Bar.

Held in the courtyard of the Hammer Museum, the event will feature 40 fragrance makers from around the world, including several Los Angeles-based perfumeries that create surprising scents for the home.

The event will also include the Art and Olfaction Awards with DJs and cocktails beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. On Mother’s Day, there will be a scent lab for kids and grown-ups hosted by perfume maker Persephenie Lea.

Although the Institute for Art and Olfaction’s experimental scent workshops have sold out, don’t be discouraged, as the nonprofit regularly hosts classes on perfumery basics in Chinatown.

AIX Scent Fair, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Blvd., Westwood. Admission is free. (310) 443-7000.
