A bruised right knee forced Adrian Gonzalez to make a fifth-inning departure from the Dodgers’ series finale against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday.

Gonzalez fouled a pitch off the inside of his knee in a third-inning at-bat that ended in a strikeout.

Gonzalez played two innings of defense after that, but had to be replaced by Scott Van Slyke in the bottom of the fifth with the Dodgers leading, 1-0.
