Dodgers call up left-handed reliever Adam Liberatore

It’s never too late to add a little depth, or so it seems.

Prior to Tuesday’s game the Dodgers “called up” left-hander Adam Liberatore from places unknown and added him to their active roster, now at 37 players.

This is his third stint with the club this season. He has split time between the Dodgers and triple-A Oklahoma City.

With the Dodgers, he is 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. After being acquired in the off-season from Tampa Bay, he made his major league debut with the Dodgers in April and started his career with nine consecutive scoreless appearances.

For Oklahoma City, he went 0-1 with a 3.74 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP in 19 games. He last pitched on Sept. 11.

He gives the Dodgers four left-handed relievers for the final two weeks of the season. J.P. Howell, Luis Avilan and now Liberatore provide them with three situational left-handers out of the bullpen, while Ian Thomas can also be used as a long reliever.
