Friday’s top prep football games in the Southland

Long Beach Poly (11-1) vs. Bellflower St. John Bosco (11-1) at Cerritos College, 7:30 p.m. (Fox Sports West): It’s big-boy football in this Pac-5 Division semifinal game. There may be more future college players on the field than anywhere else in the region. It’s going to come down to which offensive line can protect its quarterback and create opportunities. Quarterbacks Josh Love of Poly and Josh Rosen of St. John Bosco, will be counted on to deliver. St. John Bosco will have to deal with the hard-hitting Iman Marshall, Poly’s five-star safety. The pick: St. John Bosco.

La Puente Bishop Amat (9-3) at Corona Centennial (10-2), 7:30 p.m. Centennial lost its standout running back, J.J. Taylor, to an appendectomy last week and the Huskies still won their Pac-5 quarterfinal. This semifinal game will feature lots of offense. The Bishop Amat duo of juniors Tyler Vaughns and Trevon Sidney will cause lots of problems. But Centennial junior receiver Javon McKinley has been unstoppable in the playoffs. The pick: Centennial.

Narbonne (8-4) at Garfield (10-2), 7 p.m. Garfield is so close to making its first City Section Division I final. Behind quarterback Stevie Williams and defensive back-receiver Cleo Session, the Bulldogs are more athletic and stronger than ever. Narbonne’s defense has shown improvement in recent weeks. Quarterback Roman Ale will need to play a mistake-free game, and running back Sean Riley will need at least one big play. The pick: Narbonne.

Carson (10-2) at San Pedro (11-1), 7 p.m. Three weeks ago, San Pedro beat the Colts, 17-15. Both teams have lost players to injury. Carson, though, now knows what to expect playing the Pirates on their home field. Jabari Minix of Carson will be asked to contribute on both sides of the ball. San Pedro running back Chris Alvidrez has been gaining yards all season. The pick: San Pedro.
