With a rejuvenated quarterback, a record-setting running back and a surprising 5-1 record, the Dallas Cowboys have been one of the feel-good stories in the NFL so far this season.

But Joseph Randle has cast a dark cloud over that season.

No longer can the citizens of Dallas celebrate the return of America’s Team in good conscience.

Even with DeMarco Murray rushing for 785 yards in six games, the most in franchise history.

Or with 34-year-old Tony Romo coming off back surgery to (so far) silence the critics who have dogged him throughout his career.

Not with multiple media sources reporting that Randle was arrested Monday.

No matter that folks outside of Dallas -- and maybe even some inside Dallas -- probably haven’t heard of Randle, a backup running back who has rushed for 277 yards and two touchdowns during his two years as a pro.

It’s the principle of the thing. With all the issues facing the NFL today, we can no longer tolerate behavior such as that displayed by Randle, who was arrested Monday for allegedly shoplifting from a Dillard’s in Frisco, Texas.

“The items that were stolen were underwear and cologne,” said Lt. Jason Jenkins with Frisco Police, according to CBS DFW. The report approximates the value of the cologne at $80 and the underwear $40.

Wait. An NFL player allegedly stole some cologne and some fancy undies?

Never mind, Dallas. Resume your celebrating.
