Update: The Sparks beat the Sky by 20 points in Game 1 on Wednesday, by 15 in Game 2 on Friday, and have a chance to sweep the best-of-five series on Sunday. The Sparks have kept the Sky at an arm’s length with a balanced offense. In Game 2, five players scored in double figures with Candace Parker and Jantel Lavender leading the way with 20 points each. The Sky have struggled to find an offensive rhythm without star forward and leading scorer Elena Delle Donne, who has been sidelined by a right thumb injury. Chicago Coach Pokey Chatman said Delle Donne will not play in Game 3. In her absence, reserve guard Jamierra Faulkner has been the team’s most consistent weapon. Faulkner led the Sky with 13 points in Game 1 and scored 14 in Game 2. The Sky also got solid off-the-bench production from center Clarissa Dos Santos, who finished with 15 points. The Sparks pulled away in Game 2 with an up-tempo offense and solid three-point shooting, going 10 for 23 from long range. The Sky, considered a good three-point shooting team, shot just three for 13 from beyond the arc.
