The Rev. A. Edward Moch hung his head next to his special flag prior to the start of the Los Angeles Fire Department 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning.

In Hollywood, members of the LAFD Historical Society and former firefighters raised the flag during another annual 9/11 memorial program at the Fallen Firefighters Memorial Plaza.

These events were just two of many held throughout the Southland to commemorate the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the fourth jetliner that crashed into a Pennsylvania field when passengers tried to take control from the hijackers.

This evening, Los Angeles Fire Department Station 88 will hold a public memorial ceremony at 6 p.m. in observation of the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The site houses a 750-pound piece of the World Trade Center rubble and 100-pound piece of limestone from the Pentagon dedicated in 2004.
