A Riverside man could face manslaughter and driving-under-the-influence charges after he allegedly crashed into a car in Corona, causing it to burst into flames and killing its two passengers.

Julio Reyes, 34, was driving a Lexus sedan more than 95 mph on southbound Interstate 15 around 1:15 a.m. Sunday when he crashed into the back of a Toyota, the California Highway Patrol said.

The car carrying two female occupants immediately became engulfed in flames. Corona fire crews pronounced both females dead at the scene.

Reyes was driving with two passengers. One, a male, was taken to Riverside Community Hospital. Evidence shows everyone involved was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Reyes was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time and was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence causing great bodily injury or death to another, officials said.

Reyes posted $75,000 in bail on Sunday, Riverside County inmate records show. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 18.
