Barber arrested on suspicion of slashing customer’s throat
A barber in Imperial Beach was arrested late Monday on suspicion of attempted murder by allegedly slashing the throat of a customer with a straight razor during a shave.
Daniel Flores, 22, was arrested after deputies found his customer, Timothy Paul Vaughn, 33, lying on the floor of the barbershop “bleeding profusely from the throat area,” the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
Vaughn had “multiple cuts to the center part of his throat under his chin,” according to Sgt. Leonel Gurrota.
He was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center in critical condition although his injuries are not considered life threatening, Gurrota said.
Flores fled the barbershop after the attack but was located near his aunt’s house in San Diego and arrested without incident, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
No motive for the attack was revealed.
