Fire spreads from garage to Burbank home belonging to actor's family

Fire engulfs detached garage and spreads to Burbank home that belongs to actor's family

About 50 firefighters knocked down a fire Friday that spread to a home in Burbank’s Rancho neighborhood from a detached backyard garage, fire officials said.

Around 11:20 a.m., firefighters were called to the 300 block of West Spazier Avenue, where the garage blaze had spread to the home as well as a neighboring detached garage, said Burbank Fire Capt. Peter Hendrickson.

KTLA reported that the home is owned by the family of actor Justin Baldoni, who stars in The CW's "Jane the Virgin." News video from the scene showed Baldoni being consoled by others.

The two residents evacuated a pair of horses and three dogs from the property before authorities arrived. Both were treated for smoke inhalation, Hendrickson said. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials quickly extinguished the next-door garage fire before attacking the main garage and house fires, he added.

“The garage is completely gone, it’s pretty much burned down,” Hendrickson said.

An investigator was on scene to determine the cause of the blaze. Damage estimates were not immediately available.
