A driver who hit a man crossing the street and dragged his body 75 feet was being sought Wednesday by L.A. County sheriff's investigators.
The incident occurred about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday when a 65-year-old Compton resident was hit at Alameda and Oaks streets by a white sedan, possibly a Pontiac or Chevrolet, Sheriff’s Department officials said.
The man was dragged 75 feet before coming to a rest and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was being withheld by authorities until his family could be notified.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department's Compton station at (310) 605-6500.
