Police and coroner’s officials were investigating after a decomposing body was found inside a vehicle in the parking lot of an Inglewood shopping center.

Inglewood police received a call regarding a foul odor and a suspicious vehicle parked near a Home Depot and an El Super grocery store in the 3300 block of West Century Boulevard at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officers who responded found a “severely decomposed” body inside, said a watch commander with the police department.

Coroner’s officials were en route to the scene.

It was unclear how long the vehicle or the body may have been there, police said. An official at the scene said they could have been there for a month, according to a KTLA reporter.
