A shooting near Hollywood Park in Inglewood has left one suspect dead and two sheriff’s deputies injured, officials said early Tuesday.

The shooting occurred at about 12:01 a.m. in the 3900 block of West Century Boulevard after a routine traffic stop, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and media reports.

“Suspect pulls out a weapon and starts to shoot at the deputies; deputies returned fire,” Sheriff Lee Baca told KTLA.

The man shot by deputies was not immediately identified.

The two deputies who were struck by gunfire were expected to recover from their injuries, officials said.

KTLA reported that one of the deputies who was shot was saved by a phone charger in her pocket. The bullet embedded in the phone charger, authorities said.

Two other suspects in the incident, a man and a woman, were taken into custody, and a handgun was recovered from the scene, officials said.
