Fatal motorcycle crash closes some southbound 405 lanes, snarls traffic
A fatal motorcycle collision Friday closed three lanes on the southbound 405 Freeway at Mulholland Drive on Friday, snarling traffic for miles, authorities said.
The motorcyle collided with a vehicle around 9 a.m., prompting the lane closures, according to California Highway Patrol. A SigAlert was issued for the crash, which also backed up traffic on the 101 Freeway.
The motorcyclist, described by the Los Angeles Fire Department as a 50-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries, according to a CHP incident log.
The SigAlert was still in effect for the lane closures as of 11:15 a.m.
