Man shot dead during argument in East L.A. restaurant

Authorities continue to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday night in an East Los Angeles Mexican seafood restaurant.

The shooting ocurred about 8:15 p.m. at the restaurant in the 6000 block of Whittier Boulevard after two men got into a verbal argument, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other, fleeing the restaurant in a black sports utility vehicle.

The victim’s identity was not immediately released.

No description of the shooter was available, but anyone with information on the incident was urged to contact the Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

The shooting marked the first homicide within a one-mile radius of the restaurant in the past 12 months, according to the Los Angeles Times’ Homicide Report.
