A Baldwin Park toddler who was allegedly killed by his father suffered a broken leg last year in an incident that was investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, authorities said Thursday afternoon.

Officials with the Children and Family Services Department responded about a year ago to the home where 21-month-old Joshua Vasquez lived with his family in the 3700 block of Downing Avenue, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

That investigation is now being conducted by homicide detectives who are handling the case involving the boy’s death on Wednesday, authorities said in a statement.
