Wind gusts top 115 mph as blustery El Niño hits Southland
El Niño was bringing rain and some powerful winds to Southern California on Sunday.
Wind gusts topped 61 mph in Beverly Hills, 40 mph in Venice and 80 mph in the Angeles National Forest. Winds hit 45 mph in Long Beach, 69 in Porter Ranch and 65 in Malibu Canyon. The highest reading of the day was at Whitaker Peak, north of Castaic, where a gust was recorded at 115 mph.
