70-foot boat runs aground south of Marina del Rey
A 70-foot powerboat anchored just south of Marina del Rey ran aground early Thursday.
Officials said the captain of the Angelique awoke about 4:30 a.m. to the sound of the boat dragging its anchor.
Attempts to start the vessel’s engines were unsuccessful, and before rescue boats could arrive, the boat ran aground in heavy seas.
Los Angeles County lifeguards and sheriff’s deputies took three people and three dogs from the Angelique onto the rescue boat.
No one was injured.
